Prayer of the Church—Responsive Form
Twenty-third Sunday after Trinity
3 November 2024
Let us pray for the whole Church of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs.
O Lord, You know the plans You have for us even when we do not. Teach us to trust in Your promises, leaving our future to Your care and walking with wisdom in Your heavenly way. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Merciful Lord, You call pastors to steadfast and holy lives as examples to Your people. Edify them in their vocation, and inspire Your saints to follow after them in the way of our Savior. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Lord God, You have made us in Your image, and whatever we have belongs to You. Let us treasure Your Word above our money and render both our taxes and our tithes with thanksgiving as citizens of earth and heaven. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Heavenly Father, Solomon taught his sons a wisdom that turns from the proud and hates evil. Build our homes upon this holy foundation, and bless our children with fruitful, godly lives. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
King of kings, the rulers of this world are established to be Your ministers for good. Grant them the wisdom of Solomon, that they may decree justice and remove pride and evil from our land. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Lord of hosts, graciously regard all for whom we pray. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
Righteous Lord, You hold out to us the lives of St. Paul and all the saints as icons of Your own divine life. Convince us of our communion with them as citizens of heaven and heirs of Your gracious kingdom. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.
O Lord, heavenly Father, we gratefully remember the sufferings and death of Your dear Son, Jesus Christ, for our salvation. Rejoicing in His victorious resurrection from the dead, we draw strength from His ascension before You, where He ever stands for us as our own High Priest. Gather us together from the ends of the earth to celebrate with all the faithful the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which has no end. Graciously receive our prayers, deliver and preserve us, for to You alone we give all glory, honor and worship, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
