A LIFE QUOTE “We are blessed because Jesus has come to us, God most high become a human baby. We are blessed because God has kept His promise to redeem us, even at the cost of His own suffering, death, and resurrection. And we are blessed because the Holy Spirit has given us faith in His good promises.” Lutheran Hour Ministries Daily Devotion – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life •

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES : Parents, grandparents and pew buddies – over the summer months, libraries often issue various reading challenges, encouraging folks of all ages to pick up good books. Why not engage in your own family “Bible verse” challenge? Select a Bible verse and set a goal to read it (or a section of it) at a regular time each day during the coming week. Write it out on a note card or a big poster board (bonus points for adding illustrations), find or compose a tune for singing it, or create hand motions or actions to involve your whole selves in hiding God’s Word in your hearts. (Repeat again with a new verse next week!) Lutheran Family Service www.LutheranFamilyService.org (515.573.3138 and LFSiowa.org)
MEMORY VERSE CHALLENGE - This week the verse is Ezekiel 36:26
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

Acts 2:1 – “When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.” Notice that Pentecost was actually an Old Testament festival. It happened around the time when the wheat and oats were ready to be brought in. In the New Testament, Pentecost foreshadowed the great harvest of humankind that God will bring in through the preaching of His Word. God gives the seed, and God brings about the harvest through the work of His church.
