Prayer of the Church

The Day of Pentecost

8 June 2025

Let us pray for the whole Church of God in Christ Jesus and for all people according to their needs.

Gracious Lord, Your Spirit fills the world and gladdens Your Church with the remembrance of all Christ Jesus has spoken. Comfort us with divine peace, and do not let our hearts be troubled or afraid. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty God, You delivered Your Word through Moses and the prophets and fulfilled Your Word in Christ. He was planted in death for our sins and raised for our justification, and in Him shall all the nations of the earth be united. Give us pastors who will preach this truth faithfully and church workers who are devoted to Your service. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Lord God, You have poured out the Holy Spirit upon us, that we might believe Your truth and raise our sons and daughters in it. Bless all parents, that they may faithfully catechize their children in Your Word. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

O Lord, Giver of the Holy Spirit, guide the nations and those who lead them, especially our own president, governor, and all elected and appointed leaders. Keep them accountable to You, and guide them on the paths of justice, freedom and peace. Protect and defend our armed forces as they work to protect and defend us across the globe. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

We call on Your name, O Lord, praying in Your Spirit to help and save all. Renew the face of the earth, look with favor on Your creatures and fill the hearts of Your faithful, kindling in them the fire of Your love. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

O God, by Your Holy Spirit, convict us of sin, of righteousness in Christ and of the judgments of Your Holy Word. Sanctify our hearts by the forgiveness of sins, and make us fit partakers of Christ’s holy body and precious blood. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayer.

Almighty Father, with Your Son, Jesus Christ, send Your Holy Spirit into our hearts through Your Word to rule and govern us according to Your will. Comfort us in every temptation and misfortune and defend us against every error, that we may continue steadfast in the faith, increase in love and good works, and β€” trusting firmly in Your grace β€” obtain eternal salvation; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
