ROOF REPLACEMENT  We have one section of the roof that will need to be replaced this summer, this is the section that was ok 2 years ago, so we held off replacing it.  This is going to be about $23,000.  The work is tentatively set up for the week of July 14th. Members have contributed $11,000 towards the project so far. If you would like to contribute to this, write roof replacement on your check and it will be put in the correct spot.

THE PRAYER CHAIN The prayer chain is looking to increase the praying power in our church. If you are one that ls willing to pray for different reasons for the church let the office 319-235-6705 or Dianna Seedorff 319-290-6513 know.  We will use text for those that prefer it or call if that is easier.  Someone will pass the request on to you and you might have to pass it to someone down on your chain.  Thank you for considering to be a part of this group of Prayer Warriors.

IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, Cedar Falls and St. John’s Lutheran Church, Reinbeck are sending a group 16 people to Kenya to do mission work August 4-18.  The Kenya Mission Team is doing a fundraiser at Texas Roadhouse on July 9th from 3-8 pm.  The group will receive 10% of the total purchases of those who go out to eat or order to go during that time.  You must show them the flyer when you are ordering either a physical copy of the form or an electronic version.  All proceeds will go to help the people of Kenya.  We also ask that you pray for the group as they travel, do their work, and return home.  We ask that you pray for the people of Kenya and that the work that is being done will be beneficial and an impact for many.  If you have any questions please call Immanuel 319-260-2000.

A LIFE QUOTE “As you walk the path of life with your neighbor, learn and celebrate the depth and breadth of the infinite worth of their life—whether they are preborn, homeless, destitute, dying, friend, or foe. Learn, through the trials set before you and the sacrifices you make to improve the life of your neighbor, the awesome worth of life. Life is sacred. Every life matters.” Rev. Robert Mohns, Lutheran Church–Canada – A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life • lutheransforlife.org

BUILDING HEALTHY FAMILIES : Parents, grandparents and pew buddies! Martin Luther reportedly once said something to the effect of “When you wash your face, remember your baptism!” With warmer temperatures and (sometimes) more relaxed schedules, this time of year brings with it an increase in swimming, running through sprinklers and otherwise splashing about in various water sources. As you and your family are refreshed by such water play, take the opportunity to remind one another that you’re baptized and beloved children of God, washed in the waters of Holy Baptism, and “heirs having the hope of eternal life” (Titus 3:5-7). Proverbs 9:9 – “Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a righteous man, and he will increase in learning.” We need the Lord’s instruction and wisdom. We just don’t know enough on our own. It seems foolish to the world that Christians drop their hard-earned money into the collection plate every week. The world just doesn’t see a benefit to the preaching of the Word, the administration of the Sacraments, the sending of missionaries, or the educating of children in the faith. But from the Lord’s instruction and wisdom, we know better. Giving teaches us generosity. The work of the church is the salvation of mankind, and we are blessed to be called to participate in it in this way.
